It has been three short years since the opening of our first Azura community in Lakewood. It seems like just yesterday that I was coaching my son on a little league baseball field in Boulder and the other coach mentioned that he had a friend who was in the same business as me – and that we should meet. He said this guy had a great idea for a new senior community in Lakewood, and he was looking for a partner. A week later, I met Tim Heronimus. The rest, so they say, is history.
Since the opening of Azura of Lakewood, just thirty-six months ago, we now provide exceptional care from Sheboygan, WI to Castle Rock, CO – and also into people’s homes as they recover. We have had the privilege of caring for over 6,000 people and employ nearly 700 team members. I am very proud of what we have accomplished in a short period of time!
My first job out of college was working as an administrator in training at a nursing facility called Columbus Colony for Elderly Care. It was a unique community that provided care to deaf residents. I picked up a little sign language there, but also had the opportunity to mentor under a great guy named Ron White. Ron was very compassionate and always said, “If you love what you do, and love the people you work with, you’ll be happy”.
Well, I am happy and truly blessed to be able to work at something I love doing and working with people that I truly love working with. Our core value stories are shared every day, and I am constantly amazed and humbled by stories I hear.
Have a wonderful day and Happy Birthday Azura!

"We want to thank you for the loving special care you took of our mother, Diane. It was truly mom's home and you all became part of our family. Everything was home for her....from the beautiful rooms, large sunny windows all around, good food made with love, fun and personal activities from people who really loved our mom. We would highly recommend your facility to anyone. The staff from the director, to the doctor, to the nurse, to the caregivers and the maintenance man were all extremely helpful, caring, loving and professional. There are not enough words to say how much we appreciate all of you. Your exceptional care, kindness, and love were beyond anything we could have imagined. You were part of our family, and we will miss you." - Gail Sommers and Deborah Guse
