At Azura Assisted Living of Brookfield we wanted to honor the legacy of the Mierow Family Farm upon which our community was built. One way of doing this was to keep and restore the landmark 100 year-old barn that overlooks the grounds and ensure that the local produce and Christmas Tree stand is able to service the Brookfield community for many years to come!
The other is to use our MOSAIC philosophy and holistic approach in our providing our care and quality of life, which is why our households are centered around a community friendly garden. As a result, our residents and surrounding neighbors are invited to use these gardens for personalized connection and Horticultural Therapy. The flowers and vegetables grown here are used internally within our Azura family to brighten our tables and nourish our soul.
Our MOSAIC inspired Green Thumbs Club empowers our residents to take ownership and pride in what they grow. While our Garden to Fork Cooking Club enables them to use the items grown or brought in from the on-site produce stand to make a variety of nutritious and delicious snacks and meals for all to enjoy!
Azura also has special meals and events that will be held in our community garden; including a Garden to Fork cooking demonstrations, Vintage Movie Night on the Barn with natural refreshments and a Spring Planting Party!
In addition, we are happy to share some of the recipes from our Garden to Fork program with you too. Please see below for a brain healthy recipe that tantalizes the taste buds!
"We want to thank you for the loving special care you took of our mother, Diane. It was truly mom's home and you all became part of our family. Everything was home for her....from the beautiful rooms, large sunny windows all around, good food made with love, fun and personal activities from people who really loved our mom. We would highly recommend your facility to anyone. The staff from the director, to the doctor, to the nurse, to the caregivers and the maintenance man were all extremely helpful, caring, loving and professional. There are not enough words to say how much we appreciate all of you. Your exceptional care, kindness, and love were beyond anything we could have imagined. You were part of our family, and we will miss you." - Gail Sommers and Deborah Guse
