At Azura, our mission of transforming the culture of care extends far beyond the walls of our homes. It extends into our homes’ surrounding communities through our involvement and participation in awareness, advocacy and research and resource fundraising. Here are some ways that our Azura Living team, residents, families and friends have been active in our communities Wisconsin-wide:
Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Azura team members, residents, family members and friends join together to Walk to End Alzheimer’s each year. As a statewide sponsor of the event, Azura is proud to be able to help raise awareness and walk alongside those within our care, their families and the many individuals who are affected by this disease.
Azura Thrift Sale
Our Azura homes come up with a variety of ways to fundraise for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event every year, and for a couple of our homes, it is by hosting an Azura Thrift Sale with items donated by the community at large. Our Azura Memory Care of Eau Claire community held an annual Thrift Sale for more than a decade. Raising over $100,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association thanks to a special monetary match from Holiday Vacations. In addition, they contributed over 50,000 tons of goods for local charties like Goodwill and Hope Gospel Mission too! EXCEPTIONAL!
Advocacy Day
Held annually and coordinated by the Alzheimer’s Association, Azura has its own Advocacy Squad made up of Team members, residents and family members who make the journey to the Wisconsin State Capitol to address concerns and meet with legislators that work to aid those who are affected by this disease. This offers the opportunity to share with Wisconsin’s Senators and Representatives testaments, topics and ways legislation would help our elders and those living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Azura has also been represented at the national Advocacy Forum held in Washington D.C.
Azura Dementia Symposiums
Recognized as Wisconsin’s Dementia Experts, Azura is honored to and coordinate two annual dementia symposiums in the Eau Claire and Milwaukee, Wisconsin areas. These annual conferences are designed for professionals and individuals caring for those with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. Azura works with many exceptional organizations and speakers to bring a variety of topics and great information geared toward dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Including international dementia expert Teepa Snow!
Azura MOSAIC Dreams Program
What would your best day be? It’s a simple question that we ask our residents at Azura as part of our MOSAIC Dreams Therapy Program. MOSAIC Dreams by Azura seeks to make the dreams and special personalized moments of joy for our residents come true. Thanks to our partnership with Second Wind Dreams, we have been able to take a resident golfing, something he had given up because of his disease diagnosis. Then we learned that a resident had always wanted to graduate from college, so we threw her a graduation party complete with cap, gown and an honorary diploma from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Another resident yearned to go back to the County Fair for a corn dog and a beer. We may have supplemented the beverage for a teddy bear, but regardless it made him smile! Every smile and every dream realized is part of the MOSAIC of love and support we try to weave at Azura for our residents and their families. Below are a few of our favorite dreams we have helped to come true!
My father has been here only a little over 2 months. The positive change in him has been DRAMATIC! I would HIGHLY recommend Azura........ I would give it 10 stars if they allowed it! This is the premier facility for any family member with cognitive issues! They do treat residents like family, believe it!

"We want to thank you for the loving special care you took of our mother, Diane. It was truly mom's home and you all became part of our family. Everything was home for her....from the beautiful rooms, large sunny windows all around, good food made with love, fun and personal activities from people who really loved our mom. We would highly recommend your facility to anyone. The staff from the director, to the doctor, to the nurse, to the caregivers and the maintenance man were all extremely helpful, caring, loving and professional. There are not enough words to say how much we appreciate all of you. Your exceptional care, kindness, and love were beyond anything we could have imagined. You were part of our family, and we will miss you." - Gail Sommers and Deborah Guse

Just moved my sister-in-law to Azura Stoughton on February 12th. I feel like I’ve found a little piece of dementia heaven. The staff has gone way beyond my expectations to meet her needs and take time to know her. Anyone who has dementia deserves the TLC they receive at Azura. I’m so impressed.

Thank you to the Azura Memory Care team, Sheboygan location for the amazing, loving care they provided my dad. They truly loved and cared for my dad as if he was their own. It is such a warm, loving, family environment I only wish we would have moved my dad there years earlier!

I have enjoyed working with patients at Azura Care as a Physical Therapist Assistant. The staff has been very helpful in sharing important information about the patients to make their therapy sessions as productive as possible. They are open to learning techniques to help keep patients safe and improve their ability to perform daily tasks with less assistance. Their interactions with patients show caring and compassion with a focus on the needs of each individual to enjoy the best quality of life possible.

The journey of caregiving for my Aunt started over 4 years ago. It has been a very long difficult journey. It is hard to watch and frustrating to watch a loved one decline, as well as for them to live the decline. My Aunt found her final peace at Azura Memory Care in Sheboygan. It was not only her peace but mine as well. I no longer had to worry about her care as I could see that she was loved by her Azura family. She passed away on June 21 and they knew how important that it was for me to be there, but I also found peace that if I was not there, she was with family that loved her. No words can express the appreciation for the care, compassion and love that they have for all their residents. God has opened many doors through my journey and the doors at Azura were truly a gift from God. This family made a difference in a long journey. I will always have them in my thoughts and prayers. They are where and doing what they are meant to do!
